Girl dies in quad bike accident
A TEENAGE girl has died after a quad bike accident involving her sisters on a property south of Wollongong.
The 13-year-old girl and her younger siblings were riding the quad bike at a private property near Kembla Grange Racecourse today (Wednesday) morning when the older girl fell off.
Her sisters were uninjured and raised the alarm just before 12:30pm.
Emergency services found the girl unconscious.
Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she died at the scene, police say.
Lake Illawarra Duty Officer, Inspector Rod Davis, has reminded parents to supervise children on quad bikes.
“It’s a timely reminder that these vehicles are not toys,” he says.
“Being school holidays, parents should ensure strict supervision of children using this type of motorised equipment and all relevant safety equipment, including helmets, should be worn,” says Inspector Davis.
Investigations are continuing and a brief of evidence will be prepared for the Coroner. |
