Car stolen at knifepoint found torched
A KNIFE-WIELDING bandit has threatened a couple and stolen their car, later found torched at Albury.
A man and a woman were walking along Townsend St, Albury, when they were approached by another man about 8:10pm yesterday (Thursday), police say.
The pair was returning to their car in a shopping centre car park when the man produced a knife and demanded the car keys.
Police have been told a knife was held to the man’s throat before he was threatened and forced to hand over the keys to a green Hyundai.
The armed man then drove off while the victims contacted Triple Zero and alerted police.
A short time later police located the stolen Hyundai burnt out in bushland in West Albury.
Albury Detectives are continuing their investigations into the aggravated robbery and ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. |
