Five trapped after head-on smash
FIVE people have been left trapped for several hours after a head-on smash involving two cars on the Mitchell Highway west of Dubbo.
A Holden Barina travelling from Dubbo to Narromine and an eastbound Mitsubishi Lancer collided on a bend on the Mitchell Highway 21km west Dubbo about 11:50am yesterday (Friday).
Three people in the Lancer driven by a woman and two in the Barina, also driven by a woman, sustained serious injuries.
The last person was released from the wreckage at 1:24pm
Four patients were taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in serious condition with pelvic, leg, back and abdominal injuries.
The victims included two men, aged 20 and 62, and two women, aged 24 and 31.
A 58-year-old woman, a passenger in the Lancer, was airlifted to Orange Base Hospital.
The highway was closed to traffic for about four hours. |
